UCSB’s defense played a strong match, but the offense couldn’t find a finishing touch in a 0-0 draw at Pacific in a nonconference women’s soccer match on  Sunday in Stockton.

The Gauchos had eight shots on target compared to four by Pacific.  Goalkeeper Evann Smith made four saves during regulation.

“On the defensive side of the ball, we were solid. We really only gave up two looks at our goal and Evann handled those really well,” said UCSB head coach Paul Stumpf. “I felt our possession was good today and the stats show that with 55% belonging to us. What was missing today was any sort of special moment in front of goal. We created enough chances to have at least one on the board.”

The Gauchos are now 0-1-1 on the season. They return to Harder Stadium on Friday to take on Sacramento State at 7 p.m. The game will be streamed on UCSBGauchos.com with Gerry Fall on play-by-play and Carson Vom Steeg on color.  Live stats will be available on UCSBGauchos.com as well.

For those attending the game and any UCSB athletic event, the athletic department has gone to a mobile ticketing system through the app AXS Mobile. Use the app to purchase tickets and bring your phone to the game to show the purchase at the entrance.
