HONOLULU – Led by pitcher Camryn Snyder, the UCSB Softball team started off their Big West opening series on the right note, defeating Hawai’i 5-2.

Snyder threw seven strong innings, getting her seventh win of the season. The junior allowed two runs on four hits and struck out seven.

The Gauchos are 14-8 overall after winning their fourth straight game.

The middle innings proved to be the difference in the game as UCSB scored a single run in three consecutive innings. The Gaucho offense was led by Ashley Donaldson who went 4-for-4 in the win with an RBI-single in the fourth to put Santa Barbara up 3-0.

Daryn Siegel went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI in the game, and a run scored which included an RBI double in the seventh to add insurance for UCSB.

The Gauchos will wrap up their series with Hawai’i tomorrow with a doubleheader, beginning at 5 p.m. Pacific Time.
