UCSB right-handed pitchers Frank Camarillo and Reed Moring were selected in back-to-back rounds of the 2025 MLB Draft on Monday.
Camarillo was selected by the New York Mets 403rd overall in the 13th Round, while Moring was taken by the Minnesota Twins 449th overall in the 14th Round.
The two arms are the second and third Gauchos to be picked this year after his teammate and fellow pitcher Tyler Bremner was taken No. 2 overall by the Angels on Sunday.
After appearing in four games in his freshman year, Camarillo has thrown 41 innings across his past two seasons in the Blue and Gold. In 2025, he recorded a 6.53 ERA while striking out 19 in 20 â…” innings pitched.
Camarillo has also been an impact pitcher on the Santa Barbara Foresters for the past two summers, serving as a consistent member of the starting rotation after mainly coming out of the bullpen for the Gauchos.

He will now look to prove himself at the lower levels and work his way up the ranks of the New York Mets organization.
Meanwhile, Moring has split time between the bullpen and the starting rotation throughout his three seasons in Isla Vista.
After an up-and-down first two years with the Gauchos, Moring put together a strong 2025 campaign with an ERA of 2.55 and 21 strikeouts in 17 â…” innings pitched.
Moring will enter a Minnesota minor league system that has produced several impact Major League-level players in recent years.
