UCSB pitchers Hudson Barrett and Frank Camarillo combined to lead the Santa Barbara Foresters to a 4-0 season-opening win over the Orange County Riptide on Friday at Great Park in Irvine.

Barrett got the starting nod in the opener and didn’t disappoint, allowing just two baserunners and striking out six in four innings. Camarillo took over and was just as dominant, surrendering one hit in five shutout frames.

The Forester offense got off to a slow start, as the game remained scoreless after four innings.

Santa Barbara scored its first run of 2025 in the top of the fifth on an RBI sacrifice fly by Easton Rulli of Central Arizona to score Brenton Clark of Arkansas, who reached via a walk.

That 1-0 lead held until the seventh, when it doubled to 2-0 on a wild pitch that allowed Texas A&M’s Sawyer Farr to come in the score.

The final blow came in the top of the ninth, as Maddox Mandino of the University of Louisiana Lafayette roped a two-out single to plate two runs and grow the lead to 4-0.

Santa Barbara (1-0) will look to remain on the road to take on the Conejo Oaks on Saturday at 4 p.m.
