A United Airlines jetliner struck a flock of birds while landing at the Santa Barbara Airport over the weekend, but no damage or injuries were reported, according to an airport spokeswoman.
United’s Flight 671 departed several hours late from Denver on Saturday, and arrived in Santa Barbara at 4:26 p.m., according to flight-tracking website FlightRadar24.
The Aviation 24/7 Facebook page reported the bird strike on Monday, and indicated one of the Airbus A-320’s engines “ingested” 15 birds and was damaged.
“The flight you’re referring to did in fact incur a bird strike upon landing at SBA,” Angi Daus, the airport’s marketing coordinator, told Noozhawk. “The aircraft was fully inspected and cleaned, and there was no physical damage to the engine.”
Daus said she did not know what type of birds were involved.
The plane had been scheduled to continue from Santa Barbara to San Francisco on Saturday, but was delayed until early Sunday morning, according to FlightRadar24.
