The last in a series of Mission Update presentations about Vandenberg Space Force Base operations has been delayed until June.

The fourth and final community speaker series “Mission Update” in Ojai now is planed for 4 to 6 p.m. June 22 at Kent Hall Council Chambers, on the Ojai City Hall Campus, 111 W. Santa Ana St.

“Mission Update” will feature U.S. Space Force Col. James T. Horne III, commander of Space Launch Delta 30, who will provide updates on Vandenberg operations and discuss the installation’s role in national defense and assured access to space.

The previous events have provided information about Vandenberg activities and addressed questions regarding rocket launches and sonic booms.

“This speaker series has been an important opportunity to connect directly with our local communities,” Horne said. “We appreciate the continued engagement and look forward to discussing Vandenberg’s mission, hearing community feedback.”

The series debuted in February with a Lompoc presentation and was followed the next two months with events in Santa Barbara and Carpinteria where the talks include results of a noise study related to sonic booms generated by rockets.
