More volunteers, including in Goleta, are needed for the Santa Maria/Santa Barbara County Continuum of Care (CoC) countywide 2025 Homeless Point-In-Time Count taking place 5:30-9 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22.
The Point-In-Time Count is the annual count of individuals and families experiencing homelessness on a given day, and data is used to ensure essential homelessness services and funding.
To volunteer in Goleta, select “Goleta” as the primary choice on the registration form, ensuring placement in a Goleta census tract. Participants can register with up to five people if they select a group name and each registers using that group name.
Teams of volunteers will canvas assigned routes throughout Santa Barbara County and briefly document who is experiencing homelessness. The information collected is used to plan local homeless assistance systems, justify funding, and raise public awareness.
All volunteers must attend a one-hour training session. Virtual trainings will be held via Zoom, Jan. 14-17. Last day to sign up to volunteer is Jan. 17.
