Warren Benedict Dickey was born and raised in Santa Barbara. He attended Santa Barbara High School where his greatest memories were as a Don on the football and baseball fields.

He went on to Westmont College where he pitched for the Warriors and earned a BA in economics. He was drafted by the Detroit Tigers and played rookie ball until an injury sidelined his career.

He returned to Santa Barbara and earned an MBA with the dream of coaching at his alma mater. His coaching career spanned 37 years and included Westmont College, Santa Barbara City College, and Santa Ynez High School, with a few Pony Baseball teams in the mix.

The highlight of Warren’s career was coaching the Santa Ynez Pirates to the Southern Section title in 2014.

Warren’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Melanie; his sons and daughters-in-law Ben and Jasmine, Brock and Libby; and his angels, granddaughters Annie and Blair.

Warren loved the Challenger Program hosted by Dos Pueblos Little League. Donations may be made in his name to that program.
