The Santa Barbara-Toba Sister Cities organization invites the community to its Shin Nen Kai Japanese New Year’s party and general annual meeting, 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23 at the Unitarian Society of Santa Barbara, 1535 Santa Barbara St.

The Year of the Snake celebration will feature a cultural program with Japanese Shakuhachi flute pieces by Cody Westheimer and Bob Sedivy playing the duet “Shika no Tone,” the “Distant Call of the Deer.”

There will be a Japanese dinner catered by Sushi Teri that includes tea, sake and dessert.

Cost to attend is $50 for members, $55 for non-members, and $25 for children under age 16. The deadline to make a reservation is Wednesday, Feb. 19.
