For the sixth consecutive year, Westerlay Orchids will hold a fundraiser for the Carpinteria Education Foundation Inc. (CEF) in which the family-owned business pledges 100% of retail shop proceeds the week of Oct. 16-21.
Westerlay raised $33,463 for CEF at last year’s event, and hopes to match that this year.
“We care about this community, and giving back to CEF and local schools has been one of our favorite ways to express appreciation for Carpinteria,” said Toine Overgaag, Westerlay Orchids owner/president.
“Supporting these students in an impactful way is something we look forward to doing every year,” he said.
Money raised will help fund Career Technical Education resources for Carpinteria Union School District families in need through the nonprofit CEF.
The four-part practical education program comprises FFA, Culinary Arts, CNC (computer control of machining equipment), and Engineering Principals.
For more than 25 years, CEF has been dedicated to the academic success of Carpinteria and Summerland students. CEF partners with local schools to provide scholarship opportunities and other essential resources to the city’s youth.
CEF also offers Santa Barbara students skill-building in science and technology, language arts, humanities, culinary arts, and agriculture.
The Westerlay showroom is open 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday at 3504 Via Real, Carpinteria. For more, visit www.WesterlayOrchids.com.
