Westmont Volleyball has been given new life in the NAIA National Championships after Midland (Neb.) defeated Bellevue (Neb.) on Friday afternoon in Sioux City, Iowa.

Westmont defeated Midland on Wednesday before falling to Bellevue on Thursday, and after Midland defeated Bellevue on Friday, all three teams in Pool C had identical records of 1-1.

To break the tie, the teams will compete in a one-set tiebreaker to 25, which will determine what team advances to the NAIA Quarterfinals.

Based on a percentage of sets won, Westmont is the third-ranked team in the tie-breaker, meaning the Warriors will play a “semi-final” tie-breaker against Bellevue. The winner will then play against Midland for the quarterfinal berth.

The protocol for tiebreakers is that they be played after the conclusion of the final regularly scheduled match, which is set to begin at 5:00 p.m. PST. Ahead of each tiebreaker, teams are given a mandatory 30 minutes to warm up. Therefore, Westmont will likely not take the court until 7:00 p.m. PST.
