The NAIA announced on Monday that Westmont College will be one of nine host sites for the Opening Round of the NAIA College World Series.

Beginning on May 17 and going through May 20 (if necessary), Westmont will host five teams in a double-elimination tournament, with a trip to the World Series in Lewiston, Idaho on the line.

“We’re excited about the opportunity,” said Westmont head coach Robert Ruiz. “It’s a tremendous honor to be able to host the opening round of the national tournament for the NAIA. We think we have a great facility and a great location to do it, and we’ve proven before that we can put on a great tournament.”

Westmont ended the regular season with a 28-20 record, and in Ruiz’s 12th year at the helm, the Warriors have an opportunity to become the first team in program history to punch their ticket to the NAIA College World Series.
