Crews stopped forward progress of a vegetation fire that burned an estimated 3 acres near Ballard in the Santa Ynez Valley Monday afternoon.
The blaze was initially reported along the 1500 block of Alamo Pintado Road around 3:45 p.m. and wildfire cameras showed smoke in the area.
Incident command mobilized firefighting aircraft as well as ground crews, according to emergency radio traffic. The fire had a moderate rate of spread and light winds were reported in the area, according to responders.
The wildfire was approximately 3 acres as of 4:20 p.m., according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department. Forward progress was stopped as of 4:46 p.m., according to emergency radio traffic, and aircraft were released from the incident.
County Fire advised drivers and residents to avoid the area so emergency crews could safely access the scene.
