William Arthur Snider

William Arthur Snider passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. He was born in Huntington, West Virginia, on May 16, 1949 to William Law Snider and Thelma May (Spears) Snider.

Bill’s father worked in the oil industry, and the family moved around quite a bit as they were growing up. They eventually made Westerville, Ohio, their home.

The one constant for their family was the annual summer road trips to their cabin on McGregor Bay, Lake Ontario, Canada. This trip was Bill’s most treasured memory of his youth.

Bill attended Westerville High School and Ohio State University. After he graduated, he was drafted into the Army where he served as a chef for the general’s staff at the Pentagon. He was an excellent cook; he always said he had to learn how to cook because his sisters and mother took turns burning dinner.

After leaving the army, Bill traveled all over the U.S. and Canada in his modified va, and when he passed through Santa Barbara he decided to make this his home.

Bill worked in numerous restaurants for many years, working in all capacities from chef to general manager, until he made the choice to move into restaurant food sales and was hired on at Jordano’s Foodservices in 1985. He worked there until his retirement.

Bill was a photographer at heart, and loved to fish, go camping and play golf with his sons, he had a sharp wit and was always impeccably dressed. He had a strong work ethic and worked hard to support his family.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his nephew Matthew Lannom; and brother-in-law Leslie Lannom. He is survived by his sisters Trisha Lannom of Westerville, Ohio, and Donna Waibel (Dick) of Lancaster, Ohio; sons Sean Snider, Marcus Snider, and Tucker Snider (Victoria); two grandsons Archer and Florian; and many nieces and nephews.
