Bill Heet was born in Wayne County, Ohio, in 1953.
His love for adventure and photography landed him at Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara back in the early ’70s.
He graduated from Brooks and was an incredible photographer throughout his life. He found his passion being underwater and became a professional sea urchin diver soon after. He was an underwater warrior, and he enjoyed the many pleasures of life. He enjoyed cooking for others and designing beautiful handmade abalone jewelry. He was the life of the party and a true friend to all.
His love for adventure and the ocean was with him throughout his life.
He traveled to the Far East every year for a 15-20 year period, taking beautiful pictures and taking in the Far East cultures. He loved sharing his adventures with his best friends, inviting them along his travels, from riding elephants to exploring remote villages of Burma and Laos, and discovering the most incredible and untouched beaches in the Indonesian Islands.
Bill’s easy demeanor, kindness and beautiful smile made him hundreds of great friends throughout his life. Bill loved his friends, and he was there for them throughout their lives — always giving a hand, going above and beyond, and not asking for much in return.
He lived a beautiful life, and his impact and his friendships to so many will be felt forever.
Bill passed away peacefully on Jan. 18, 2024, in Santa Barbara.
Bill is survived by his beautiful sister Holly Hudson, brother Jim Hudson, and many loving friends.
