A Santa Barbara woman is facing multiple criminal charges stemming from what Santa Barbara Police say was a hit-and-run injury crash on the city’s Eastside last weekend.
The incident occurred at about 6:40 p.m. on Sunday near the intersection of North Milpas and East Canon Perdido streets, according to Sgt. Ethan Ragsdale.
“It appeared a parked vehicle was struck by another moving vehicle, and the suspect vehicle fled the scene,” Ragsdale told Noozhawk. “The owner of the parked vehicle was attempting to get into the vehicle when it was struck.”
The victim, whose name was not released, suffered moderate injuries in the crash, Ragsdale said, and was taken by AMR ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
Details on his condition were not available.
Officers located the suspect vehicle on the 700 block of Spring Street, Ragsdale said.
The driver — Leslie Hernandez, 23 — was evaluated for driving under the influence and subsequently arrested, Ragsdale said.
The District Attorney’s Office filed criminal charges against Hernandez including five misdemeanor counts: driving under the influence of alcohol while causing injury; hit and run causing injury or death; resisting arrest; refusing to take a blood-alcohol test; and driving with a blood-alcohol level of 0.15% or greater.
She was scheduled for arraignment Tuesday in Superior Court in Santa Barbara.
Hernandez remained in custody Wednesday at the Santa Barbara County Jail, with bail set at $100,000.
