A woman was bitten in the leg during a fight between two dogs Tuesday evening in Santa Barbara, and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The incident occurred at about 6:15 p.m. in the 2500 block of De la Vina Street, near West Constance Avenue, according to Santa Barbara police Sgt. Ethan Ragsdale.

The woman was bitten on the leg while the two dogs were fighting, Santa Barbara fire Capt. Matt Wilson told Noozhawk.

The woman, whose identity was not released, was taken by American Medical Response ambulance to nearby Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

Details on her condition were not available.

A city Animal Control officer was dispatched to the scene to take custody of the dog for quarantine, Ragsdale said.

It’s not known what breeds of dog were involved in the fight.

The incident remained under investigation, Ragsdale added.
