A motorist was injured Wednesday evening in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 101 just north of the Gaviota Tunnel, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

The crash occurred at about 6:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes, fire Capt. Scott Safechuck said.

The female driver, who was the sole occupant, had to be extricated from the wreckage, Safechuck said.

She was taken by AMR ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

Her name and details on her condition were not available.

The crash was under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
