A woman was critically injured early Monday in a rollover crash on Highway 101 north of Los Alamos, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

Firefighters and other emergency personnel were dispatched shortly before 4:30 a.m. to the crash on northbound Highway 101 near Cat Canyon Road, said fire Capt. Scott Safechuck.

The SUV overturned several times and came to rest on its roof about 100 yards off the highway.

The woman was ejected from the vehicle and suffered major injuries, Safechuck said.

Foggy conditions prevented the use of a medical helicopter, so she was taken to the hospital by an AMR ambulance, he added.

Her name and details on her condition were not available.

The crash was under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
