A woman was found dead Wednesday near the Santa Barbara waterfront, but foul play is not suspected, according to the Santa Barbara Police Department.
Officers and other emergency personnel were dispatched at about 11:40 a.m. after a passerby found the body adjacent to the railroad tracks near Milpas Street, Lt. Aaron Baker told Noozhawk.
“It looked like she had been walking along the tracks,” Baker said of the woman, who appeared to be in her mid-20s to mid-30s.
The woman’s name was not released pending positive identification and notification of relatives, and the cause and circumstances of her death were pending, Baker said.
Detectives were called to the scene, Baker said, but added that “there is no reason to believe foul play is involved.”
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Bureau was dispatched to pick up the body and will be conducting an investigation into the death.
