The Art Foundation of Santa Barbara will have a special showing of selected paintings of legendary Santa Barbara artist Clarence Hinkle, from the collection of Gary Breitweiser, and a visit to Hinkle?s studio Friday. Friday’s Art Foundation of Santa Barbara event will begin with a visit to Hinkle’s studio, now owned by Priscilla Fossek, who bought the property after Hinkle’s death in 1960. Shuttle service is available to the studio from the Santa Barbara Club, 1105 Chapala St., between 4 and 6 p.m.
Following the studio visit, there will be a reception at the Santa Barbara Club from 6 to 7 p.m., along with commentary about the 30 Hinkle paintings on display there from the Breitweiser collection. Tickets are $50 per person and reservations can be made by calling 805.965.6547 for either the exhibit or the studio visit, or both.
A second, free showing of Hinkle’s work will be open to the general public from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Santa Barbara Club.
The Art Foundation of Santa Barbara is a nonprofit, tax-exempt foundation. Its primary mission is to acquire a collection of the work of artists past and present from the larger Santa Barbara area and to acquaint the public with their important contributions to the community.
