The Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department is accepting registrations for the upcoming Youth NFL FLAG Football League.

The non-contact, recreational league, open to youth ages 8-14, offers a six-game season focused on skill development, teamwork, and fun in a safe and structured environment, the city said.

NFL FLAG follows a 5-on-5 format in which players remove flags from the ball carrier instead of tackling. Coed divisions are available.

Registration fee is $42 for city residents, $53 for non-residents, and includes an official NFL FLAG team jersey, mouthguard, and flag belt.

Games will be played on six consecutive Saturdays, Oct. 10-Nov. 14, with games beginning in the morning. Specific game times will be determined after registration closes and teams are formed.

Games are anticipated to be held at Maramonte Park, pending field conditions. Participants will be notified of the final game location and schedule before the start of the season.

Volunteer head coaches are also needed for the upcoming season. Head coaches must be at least 18 years old and complete all volunteer requirements by Thursday, Aug, 27.

Eligible head coaches may receive one complimentary program registration for a participating child through the Head Coach Incentive Program.

Those interested in coaching are encouraged to contact the Recreation and Parks Department for additional information.

Registration is available online at www.cityofsantamaria.org/register through Thursday, Aug. 27. Walk-in registration is also available at the Recreation and Parks Department Administrative office, 615 S. McClelland St.
