Zane Becker roped a walk-off single in the 12th inning to lift the Santa Barbara Foresters to a dramatic 8-7 win over the Arroyo Seco Saints on Sunday at Eddie Mathews Field.
It was a seesaw affair in extras as each team scored in the 10th and 11th innings before Becker’s game-winner to score Caden Miller and clinch the win in the 12th.
The Saints got out to a strong start, building up a 3-0 lead after five innings.
The Foresters struck for two runs in the fifth, thanks to RBIs off the bats of Caleb Hoover and Becker to cut the deficit to 3-2.
They continued to roll in the sixth as a wild pitch allowed Easton Moomau to score and tie the game up at 3-3.
Santa Barbara took its first lead of the day at 4-3 in the eighth when Sawyer Farr singled and came around to score after stealing second and forcing an overthrow on a steal attempt to third.
The Saints tied it up with a two-out single in the ninth, leading to the game heading into extra innings.
They scored to regain the lead in the top of the tenth, but Terrence Kiel tied the game in the bottom half on an RBI sacrifice fly to send the game into the 11th inning.
Arroyo Seco tacked on two runs in the top of the inning, but once again the Foresters answered with a two-run single by Cole Chamberlain to make it 7-7 and keep the game going.
After a shutdown top of the 12th by Easton Tumis, the Foresters pulled out the win in the bottom half thanks to Becker driving in the ghost runner for the win.
Santa Barbara will be back at Eddie Mathews Field on Wednesday to take on the San Luis Obispo Blues at 4:30 p.m.
