Zane Petty and Carson Turnquist turned in solid pitching performances and Will Rogers drove in two runs as the Foresters beat the San Luis Obispo Blues, 3-1, in a California Collegiate League game on Thursday at Pershing Park.

Petty struck out 10 and didn’t walk a batter in six innings. He gave up one run and five hits.

Turnquist pitched the last three innings, striking out five and allowing one hit.

The Blues got good pitching from starter Kaden Tyrnes. He gave up one run and five hits.

The Blues scored in the second inning and held their 1-0 lead until the seventh.

Ryan Black led off with a single, went to second on a passed ball and advanced to third on a single by Max Belyeu. Rogers singled in Black for the tying run.

The Foresters took the lead in the eighth. Gianni Horvat was hit by a pitch from SLO reliever Josh Blum and stole second. With one out, Daniel Patterson singled and moved to second on an error by the third baseman. Horvat scored on the error for the go-ahead run.

After Black drew a walk and Belyeu was walked intentionally to load the bases, Rogers hit a sacrifice fly to right field to bring home Patterson for a 3-1 lead.

Turnquist retired the side in order in the ninth to earn the save.

The Foresters (15-5 overall, 12-5 in CCL) play host to the Academy Barons on Friday at 6 p.m.
