Steady growth as well as opportunities to expand its impact have challenged Leading From Within to reimagine how to best support its work and champion social-sector leaders in the Santa Barbara community and beyond. The Leading From Within board has decided to hire its first full-time executive director.

Leading From Within invests in leaders to make meaningful changes on complex challenges in our communities. Through distinct leadership programs and alumni networks, the organization brings social-sector leaders together to grow as individuals and improve their effectiveness, to support one another and to increase their capacity to be collaborators for the greater good of all.

During the past 11 years, Leading From Within has created four developmental programs and a vast alumni network of more than 350 local community leaders, including nonprofit, private sector, government and elected officials throughout Santa Barbara County.

“We are at that classic growth stage where we have to build the internal capacity to make the most of our network-wide opportunities to grow our impact,” Leading From Within founder and board chair Ken Saxon said. “A critical first step in building that capacity is to hire a full-time, on-site executive director.”

In the past seven years, Carrie Randolph has served as LFW’s part-time executive director. She declined the full-time commitment.

“Leading From Within is poised for expanded impact serving the people who drive and create change in our community,” Randolph said. “I am confident this is the right direction for the organization. I am also confident that this is not the right time in my own life journey to make this commitment.”

The new executive director will co-develop and execute a vision for the organization’s next stage of growth, lead efforts to grow a larger and more diverse funding base and strengthen management practices within the organization.
