The Santa Maria Philharmonic Orchestra and Maestro Michael Nowak welcome the community to a seasonal celebration of the Baroque eras’ greatest composers in Baroque Elegance, 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6 at First United Methodist Church, 311 S. Broadway, Santa Maria.

The annual holiday celebration of Baroque Music features familiar harmonies of the chamber orchestra with works of Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, and George Frideric Handel.

Concert soloists for include string players Brynn Albanese, the Santa Maria Phil’s concertmaster and violinist; and guest guitarist Jack Cimo.

Baroque music is often considered ideal for the holiday season for a couple of reasons. Many popular Christmas carols and holiday pieces originated or were composed during the Baroque era; and the ornate, often jubilant nature of Baroque music aligns with the celebratory spirit of the holidays.
