Lobero LIVE will presents Tab Benoit – I Hear Thunder Tour, with special guest GA-20, 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29 at the Lobero Theatre in Santa Barbara.
I Hear Thunder marks the return of four-time Grammy-nominated artist Benoit, known for his distinctive guitar tone and Otis-Redding-esque voice. Benoit has been a figure in the roots music world for some 30 years.
“The artist does more than play the blues; he defines its future while paying homage to its rich past. Tab’s personal growth and advancement as a songwriter and musician have culminated in a benchmark recording,” Lobero LIVE said.
His new self-produced album, from Whiskey Bayou Records, shows the fiery exuberance that first marked his career in 1992.
“The record not only showcases his artistic brilliance, but also his profound commitment to environmental advocacy – a legacy that extends beyond the stage into the heart of the land that inspires his bluesy soul,” Lobero LIVE said. “On Benoit’s forthcoming national tour, fans will be delighted to hear the new songs and selected tracks from his vast catalog.”
Since 2018, GA-20 has been at the forefront of a traditional Blues revival. The throwback trio members have long been disciples of the place where traditional blues, country, and rock ‘n’ roll intersect.
The band uses vintage instruments and amps to produce its authentic sound and favors traditional recording techniques.
In GA-20’s short history, it has been three times #1 Billboard Blues chart-toppers; four times Boston Music Award winners for Best Blues Act; received multiple wins and nominations at the Blues Music Awards, Blues Blast Awards, and New England Blues Awards; and ascended streaming and radio charts at home and internationally.
