No arrests have been made yet in connection with the Wednesday shooting on Santa Barbara’s Westside, police said Thursday.

The Santa Barbara Police Department had detained several people following the shooting after conducting a traffic stop of a vehicle possibly involved, according to Lt. Ethan Ragsdale.

Cmdr. Nathan Beltran told Noozhawk on Thursday afternoon that no arrests had been made and that the case was still under investigation.

He said additional information was not available.

Police first converged on the Westside on the 1200 block of San Pascual Street near Bohnett Park at about 4:20 p.m. for a report of a shooting.

Shortly after, Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital reported that a man with a gunshot wound had arrived at the hospital, according to Ragsdale.

Police officers also conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle “possibly involved” with the shooting at the Highway 101 southbound off-ramp at Castillo Street. They detained several people, Ragsdale said at the time.

It was the second shooting in that area in recent months.

In February, 29-year-old Luis Gerardo Terrazas was shot and killed at Bohnett Park.

Police arrested two adults and one juvenile in connection with Terrazas’ murder in early June.
