AgeWell Carpinteria, the newest division of Carpinteria’s Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department, is now providing programs and services designed for individuals aged 55 and older. AgeWell will offer a range of activities and support tailored to meet the needs of the city’s senior residents.

“There has been a significant demand for programs specifically catering to our aging adults, and we are thrilled that the city has prioritized us in this initiative,” said Roz Kohute, a Carpinteria resident who helped to spearhead the launch of AgeWell.

The program offers activities throughout the week, including sing-alongs, crafting sessions, meditation classes, and book clubs.

Among the most popular offerings are specialized exercise classes focusing on mind-body balance.

“Our goal is to foster a sense of community and belonging for our aging population, who often face feelings of isolation and disconnection,” said Jena Jenkins, program coordinator for AgeWell.

In addition to its comprehensive programming, AgeWell has established partnerships with various agencies to provide essential services such as free lunch programs and senior food distribution.
