The AIA Santa Barbara Chapter (American Institue of Architects), which conducts an annual juried Design Awards Program to honor the work of its membership, has announced the winners of the 2024 competition.

Entries in this year’s Design Awards program reflect a diverse range of current thought about architectural design in the Santa Barbara community. Entries were submitted in 10 categories:
Commercial Buildings; Mixed Use and Multi-Family Residential; Single Family Residential; Santa Barbara Heritage; Small Projects; Commercial Interiors; Proposed/Unbuilt Project; and Conservation: Historic Preservation, Restoration, Rehabilitation or Reconstruction.
A jury of three distinguished architects from outside Santa Barbara considered submissions for recognition and ultimately awarded one project with honor designation, four projects with merit, and two projects with honorable mention.
The AIA Santa Barbara Design Awards jury was comprised of Patti Baker, AIA director of Los Angeles-based Backen and Backen Architects; Erik Evens, AIA partner at Culver City based-KAA Design Group; and Ted Flato, FAIA of Lake|Flato Architects.
