Allan Hancock College will offer a series of live musical performances this spring featuring student musicians, faculty artists, and special guest performers in Boyd Concert Hall (bldg. F) on the Santa Maria campus.
The performances are open to the public on the following dates and times:
Applied Music Recital – Feb. 27: Hancock’s music majors will present an afternoon recital, noon-2 p.m., featuring vocal and instrumental selections that highlight the college’s student musicians. Admission is free.
Classical Arias Concert – Feb. 27: Internationally acclaimed pianist and conductor Carrie-Ann Matheson joins award-winning Georgian tenor Giorgi Guliashvili for a program, 6-7:30 p.m. The show will feature iconic Italian arias performed by these internationally seasoned artists. This event is free and open to the public.
Jazz Band Concert – March 6: Hancock’s Jazz Ensembles will take the stage, 7:30-9:30 p.m. in a program showcasing the full range of jazz styles, including swing, ballad, rock and Latin selections. Featured student soloists will bring their own improvisational flair to the show. Tickets are $10 for the public, free for AHC students with a student ID.
Symphonic Band Concert – March 9: Hancock’s Symphonic Band will perform, 7:30-9:30 p.m. The evening will celebrate the wind band tradition with selections spanning traditional works to contemporary compositions. Tickets are $10 for the public, free for AHC students with a student ID.
UCSB Chamber Choir – March 25: UCSB Chamber Choir, under the direction of Brent Wilson, will perform 5:30-6:30 p.m. as part of its annual tour.
The ensemble will present “You Burn Like a Flame of the Sun,” a 60-minute program exploring themes of love and reflection through works by Puts, Smiley, Esmail, Brahms, Whitacre, and Guillaume. This concert is free and open to all audiences.
