Santa Barbara Museum of Art’s (SBMA) Parallel Stories will partner with the Santa Barbara Symphony to explore the shared language of art and music in a recital by acclaimed Israeli Silver-Garburg Piano Duo (Sivan Silver and Gil Garburg) that will be paired with select images from the museum’s exhibition Through Vincent’s Eyes: Van Gogh and His Sources.
The live program, titled Romance in a New Key, takes place Thursday, April 21, 2022, 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm. In SBMA’s Mary Craig Auditorium, 1130 State St. Cost to attend is $5 for SBMA members, $10 for non-members. Purchase tickets at tickets.sbma.net.
The unique “conversation” between art forms will be introduced by Nir Kabaretti, Santa Barbara Symphony’s music and artistic director.
This is the second in a series of three related Parallel Stories programs exploring connections between art forms, allowing attendees to see those influences at work in the process of composition, the performance of music, and the poetry of narrative from the nineteenth century to the present.
The event is part of the Santa Barbara Symphony’s 2021/22 season.
Note: visitors who plan to attend an event in SBMA’s Mary Craig Auditorium must show proof of being fully vaccinated with a booster (if eligible), or, in some cases, supply a negative Covid-19 medical test result (taken within 72 hours prior to each event), along with an official photo ID, before entering the venue.
