Authorities have released the name of the woman pedestrian who was fatally injured Tuesday night when she was struck by a vehicle in Goleta.

The victim was Marjorie Vasquez, 86, of Goleta, according to Raquel Zick, public information officer for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s deputies and other emergency personnel were dispatched shortly after 6 p.m. to the 7300 block of Hollister Avenue, west of Storke Road near Lowell Way, on a report of a person down in the roadway median, Zick said.

Vasquez was located and declared dead at the scene, Zick said.

The driver of the vehicle that struck Vasquez was identified as Julie Chang of Santa Barbara, Zick said, adding that investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.

The collision was under investigation by the sheriff’s Major Accident Response Team.
