A Bakersfield resident has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in a Highway 154 head-on collision that injured three people, one critically, Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Katelyn Fultz, 24, was arrested for DUI and causing great bodily injury in connection with the collision, according to the Santa Barbara CHP office.
Fultz was allegedly driving a GMC Sierra truck traveling eastbound on the highway when the vehicle crossed the double yellow lines into oncoming traffic and collided with a Pontiac Vibe sedan, the CHP said.
The two-vehicle crash was reported at 6:53 a.m. near San Antonio Creek Road and authorities closed the highway in both directions for several hours during the collision response and investigation.
Three people, including Fultz, were injured in the crash and transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. One person had critical injuries and another had major injuries, the CHP said at the time.
