Santa Barbara County Behavioral Wellness (SBCBW) will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house, 9-10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 19 to celebrate two new facilities that expand supportive housing and stabilization services for community members.

Located next to one another at 310 Camino Del Remedio, Santa Barbara, Tecolote House and the Sobering Center offer services that strengthen the County’s continuum of behavioral health care.
Tecolote House, operated by PathPoint, is a 12-bed adult residential facility offering interim supportive housing and services that help residents build skills, increase independence, and work toward their long-term goals, SBCBW said.

The 14-bed Sobering Center, operated by Good Samaritan Shelter, provides a safe, supportive place for individuals to stabilize while under the influence of alcohol or other substances.
The facility replaces the county’s former Sobering Center, which was vacated due to the condition of the building, SBCBW said. Services have been temporarily available at another location.
“A strong behavioral health system is one that offers people the right support at the right time,” said Toni Navarro, director of Behavioral Wellness.
“Tecolote House and the Sobering Center strengthen our continuum of care by providing two very different, but equally important, pathways to stability and greater independence,” Navarro said.
