Bed Bath & Beyond in Goleta is open — for now.

The once-popular home furnishings store is slowly winding down in the Fairview Shopping Center.

Everything is 50% to 75% off, and the store’s last day rests in the hands of the corporate office.

As of now, the store will close at the end of July or August at the latest.

The company filed for bankruptcy earlier this year and is in the process of closing all of its stores. A week ago, overstock.com paid $21.5 million for Bed Bath & Beyond’s intellectual property and will rebrand online under the bankrupt company’s name.

MedCenter Closes

The Fairview Shopping Center is experiencing a few other changes. Across the street from Bed Bath & Beyond is a vacant space formerly occupied by MedCenter.

A sign in the window says MedCenter is “permanently closed,” and it directs people to the Milpas and State street locations.

The space is being marketed, according to commercial real estate broker Caitlin Hensel.

“Medical office space in Fairview Shopping Center now available,” she wrote on her Instagram page. “Most recently occupied by MedCenter Urgent Care, this 2,082 SF space is built out with 5+ exam rooms, lab, doctors office, breakroom, reception and private + shared restrooms. Plug and play space for another urgent care group or physician!”

The former MedCenter is at 271 N. Fairvew Ave., Suite 101.

More change is coming to the Fairview Shopping Center.

Corporation Just Food for Dogs is set to move into the center, according to Hensel.

“Excited to announce that we’ve just finalized a long-term lease at Fairview Shopping Center with Just Food for Dogs! Looking forward to welcoming them as the newest addition to the center,” the company stated.

According to the company’s website, Just Food for Dogs is “vet recommended fresh food for dogs.”

The company has open kitchens in California, Washington, New York and Illinois.

The company makes human-grade meals for dogs.

“Give us two weeks, we’ll change your dog’s life forever,” the website states. “This is fresh dog food made right: gently cooked whole ingredients and human-grade nutrition.”

The shop is at the former cash Advance America, 159 N. Fairview Ave.

Lemondrop Sours in Montecito

Lemondrop, a children’s clothing and toy boutique, is leaving Montecito and going all online.

The store, at 1485 East Valley Road, plans to end it on July 15.

“Lemondrop will be moving all sales online,” the company wrote on Instagram. “We hope to see you all in the coming weeks before we close the physical store, where all merchandise will be 25% off. Thank you for two wonderful and fun years, it’s been a valuable journey serving you and your children!”

Noozhawk wrote about Lemondrop in 2021, shortly after it opened. Owner Ana Rudnicki moved to Montecito from Texas and opened the store.
