Cajé Coffee Roasters has expanded again with a new full-service cafe in Goleta.
Owner Ryan Patronyk said the new shop at 5340 Hollister Ave. will offer the full Cajé experience with specialty drinks that some of the other shops do not have. It’s the company’s sixth store and first new location in two years.
He added that the new location will allow the operation to process more coffee beans. It also will work as a central training hub for baristas before they are assigned to the company’s busier locations.
The newest branch of the coffee shop is open every day, except Mondays, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is in its soft launch phase with limited hours and is set to fully open on Sept. 18 with hours of 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sniff the Flowers in the Funk Zone
Scenery Florals will be celebrating the opening of its new Funk Zone cottage in Santa Barbara on Sept. 19 with a grand opening from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The event will feature wine samples from local winery Dreamcôte as well as homemade pies.
The new location, ted at 136 E. Yanonali St., will feature hands-on workshops, pre-made floral arrangements, gifts and other plants.
It is is the second location for Scenery. Owner Tedde Minogue opened a flower cart in The Post Montecito.
Scenery’s shop will be open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The store’s weekend hours will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays.
Picklr Gets a Makeover
Less than a year after it opened, local pickleball club Picklr will be rebranding as The Grove Pickleball.
The company, at 189 N. Fairview Ave. in Goleta, announced on Tuesday that the club will be changing its name and switching to a locally-owned model on Monday.
The new service will feature a more flexible system that allows players to pay for a walk-in pass for a single visit.
Drop-in rates for all the club’s programming are $25 or $20 with a $100 punch pass. The punch pass offers five visits and does not expire. The drop-in rate does not apply to leagues, lessons or tournaments.

The 24,000-square-foot facility opened in May. The building offers multiple courts, showers, lockers and classes.
As of Thursday, the building still had the Picklr logo.
Wella’s Soul Food Returns
Wella’s Soul Food reopened this week after it was forced to close in late August when the owner was hospitalized shortly after the restaurant’s grand opening.
The restaurant’s Instagram thanked the community for its support.
“Thank you for every prayer, message, and all the kind words sent our way. Our family truly felt the love,” the post said.
The post said the restaurant reopened at 11 a.m. Thursday.
Mattress Store Chain Sells
Christian’s Mattress Xpress, a family owned and operated sleep shop with two stores in northern Santa Barbara County, has been acquired by a San Francisco Bay Area firm.
Mancini’s Sleepworld, with its headquarters in Livermore and operating since 1969, has more than 50 locations as far south as Monterey and Salinas.
Christian’s Mattress Xpress has nine stores, including in Santa Maria, Lompoc, San Luis Obispo, Arroyo Grande and Paso Robles, along with other locations in the San Joaquin Valley, including Fresno, Clovis and Visalia.
The business’ social media accounts announced retirement as the reason for the change, and touted a retirement sale with up to 70% off products.
Ellen DeGeneres’ Former Home for Sale Again
The Montecito farmhouse previously owned by Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi is once again on the market.
The century-old farmhouse is located in Toro Canyon and covers about 10 acres. The property features a 1917 clapboard house, a barn modified into a game room and a creative studio.
Islands Restaurant Set to Close
Islands Restaurant at 3825 State St. in Santa Barbara is set to close on Sept. 27.
The restaurant specializes in gourmet burgers but serves a variety of food, including tacos, sandwiches and more.
