Oliver’s is out.

The vegan restaurant on Coast Village Road in Montecito is closing this Saturday.

The company made the announcement on Instagram this week.

“It is with gratitude, light hearts and fond memories, we want to let you know that our last night of service at Oliver’s will be next Saturday, April 20,” the company said in a statement. “It has been an incredible honor to be part of such a beautiful, strong and resilient community for the last seven years, and we will deeply miss the privilege of welcoming you into our restaurant.”

Former cellphone investor Craig McCaw opened Oliver’s at 1198 Coast Village Road in 2017.

The site was formerly home to Peabody’s.

“Your kindness and support will never be forgotten,” according to the statement. “We’re wishing all of you an abundance of joy, laughter and good health, and we hope to see you before our last round of artichoke crab cakes and Billy Billys hits the table.”

Oliver’s may come back.

“As for what the future holds, there will be a new concept coming to our Coast Village Road space in the months ahead, and Oliver’s may return to a new location in the coming years,” the message stated. “From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for everything. This journey has been a joy beyond description.”

Oat Bakery Arriving in Montecito

In comes another.

As Oliver’s exits, Oat Bakery enters.

The shop will open Friday at 1014 Coast Village Road in the Montecito Country Mart.

“Our new location at Montecito Country Mart allows us to connect even more with the
community and share our passion for healthy, wholesome bread,” the company said in a news release.

The bakery will offer sourdoughs, focaccia and pastries along with crackers and house-made vegan spreads, according to a news release.

Oat Bakery is known for its Scandinavian menu and unique recipes.

The company has two other locations in Santa Barbara and Montecito.

The news release states that Oat Bakery originally used to have a pop-up at customer Susan Moe’s house on Olive Mill Road.

The bakery is next to Bettina Pizzeria.

“After a VERY long wait, we can finally share that we are indeed opening our doors to our amazing neighbors April 26,” the company said in an Instagram post.

People can book online or on the app as early as Friday.

Chamber Hosting Old Town Goleta Summer Parties

The Santa Barbara South Coast Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the City of Goleta, will hold a “Meet Me in Old Town” series of free summer events on the third Thursday in May, July and August.

“This initiative is a direct response to the City of Goleta’s strategic goal to return Old Town to its status as the vital center of the city, as outlined in the Goleta Strategic Plan,” said Kristen Miller, CEO of the Santa Barbara South Coast Chamber of Commerce. “This partnership aims to activate local businesses and bring the Goleta community together in celebration of its rich heritage. Come for the fun, stay for the community.”

The events will resemble a block party, featuring shaded tables, games, and a variety of food and music options, according to a news release.

Performers will include The Goodlanders, Mezcal Martini and Tequila Mockingbird.

“Grab your favorite fare from an Old Town eatery and head to Magnolia Avenue for live music, games and refreshments, including beer and wine,” the news release stated. “Community organizations and local vendors will be on site, and Goleta shirts and sweatshirts along with commemorative merchandise will be available for purchase.”

The events will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. May 16, July 18 and Aug. 15 on Magnolia Avenue in Old Town Goleta between Hollister and Gaviota.

Public parking for the event is available in the Yardi parking lot at 430 S. Fairview Ave. or the public parking lot next to Community West Bank at 5827 Hollister Ave.
