A new one-stop shop for beauty and wellness celebrated its grand opening in Santa Barbara’s Funk Zone this week. 

Prep House, a beauty and wellness collective operated by four female entrepreneurs, recently opened at 111 Santa Barbara St. 

Services include customized blowouts and makeup sessions from Amanda Leone’s Blow Dry Bar, red light therapy and spray tans from Megan Brand’s The Afterglow, teeth whitening from Meghan Webley’s Peak Whitening and nail services from Klawed by Dana Martin.

“We’re all very proud of the space, and we’re all really proud of the concept that we’ve created,” Brand said.

Prep House was born from Leone wanting to expand her salon to offer a blow dry bar in the neighboring space next to her salon. However, the space offered a bit more room than she needed, so she started talking to her neighbors about creating a shared concept.

“All of our services are about helping people look and feel their best, so it felt like a no-brainer,” Leone said. “There’s a natural energy of excitement that comes with getting ready for something fun or special, especially when getting prepped with others. That’s where the idea for the name came from — we’re a collection of providers who help you get ready in style, whether it’s for a wedding, a trip, a Friday night or just because.”

Prep House still has one suite available, and Brand said they are looking for someone to fill the space and offer an additional service that complements the rest of the services.

For Leone, Brand and Webley, Prep House is an expansion of their existing businesses, while Martin has relocated to the space from Isla Vista.

Brand said she hopes the space can be a place for busy moms and women to get efficient services.

“I want them to feel like they’re in a really nice place, but somewhere that also feels fun, not too buttoned up,” Brand said.

Brand said they also want to host pop-up events at Prep House and collaborate with other businesses.

Services are offered through appointments and can be booked online.

Pascucci Restaurant’s Final Day

After more than 30 years, Pascucci restaurant will serve its final meal on Saturday Sept. 19 at 1230 State St. in Santa Barbara.

To sell the restaurant’s furniture and fixtures, there will be a silent online auction that starts on Sunday and ends Sept. 25 at 5 p.m.

People can bid on mirrors, Italian platters and pottery, Italian curtains, unique “twisty” columns, vases, hand-carved thrones from San Miguel de Allende, and more, according to owner Laura Knight.

To see the items in person, people are invited to visit the restaurant on Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Tuesday from 8 a.m. to noon or 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The auction will be on AirAuctioneer.

Evangelina Boutique Bids Farewell

Evangelina Boutique at 805 State St. has closed its doors for the final time, according to a letter posted in the storefront window.

“Opening this boutique was a dream realized, and being part of your lives — helping you find the perfect outfit for a special event, a unique gift or just a little something to brighten your day — has been an absolute privilege,” the letter from the boutique team reads. 

“While our physical doors are closing, the memories of the conversations and connections made within these walls will stay with us forever,” the letter reads. “We hope that the pieces you’ve found here continue to bring you joy and beautiful memories.”

Kyle’s Kitchen Opening New Goleta Spot

Kyle’s Kitchen is set to open its new location at Storke Plaza in Goleta on Tuesday, according to a sign on the storefront. 

The restaurant closed its doors at the Hollister Village location earlier this year to make way for Raising Cane’s, which is set to open this fall.

The new spot is at 6831 Hollister Ave., Unit D, near Target.

World of Magic Halloween Is Here

For those looking to start their Halloween shopping and decorating, World of Magic Halloween has opened at 913 State St. in Santa Barbara.

A “superstore” is also set to open in Goleta at 199 N. Fairview Ave., taking over the former Rite Aid.

The store offers costumes, accessories, decor and props.
