A Funk Zone restaurant is expected to see a rebirth later this year.
Seven Bar & Kitchen closed in the Funk Zone nearly a year ago, but it now has plans to open at the former site of The Neighborhood Corner Bar & Grill, 235 W. Montecito St. in Santa Barbara.
“The plan for the ‘new Seven’ is to keep the same grit, rotating art, live music and comfortable atmosphere that we were able to execute at our previous location,” the Seven management team said in a statement to Noozhawk. “We are excited to polish up on certain aspects but maintain the eclectic and inclusiveness that continuously had guests coming back for more.”
The company is working through the permitting process and hopes to open by September.
Seven Bar was previously at 224 Helena Ave. but vacated after “our landlord has decided to go in a different direction,” according to an Instagram post.
Seven Bar & Kitchen is also hiring, according to the website.
“After being an integral part of the success of Santa Barbara’s Funk Zone at our previous building, we are thrilled to be opening in a bigger and better location,” the company states. “Our new home is walking distance from the Funk Zone and downtown. With public parking and the train station next door, we are easy to get to and ready to host a normal night out or any important events in your life.”

Kin Bakeshop is looking to open soon in the Turnpike Shopping Center next to Dave’s Drip House.
The donut pop-up looks to have secured a permanent spot at 199 Turnpike Center, Suite 103, according to its website.
“Will & Tommy started Kin Bakeshop in response to the pandemic with the goal of bringing our community together through donuts,” the company states on its website. “All our donuts are made with care and from scratch, and made to be enjoyed in the presence of kin. Our humble popup is currently transitioning into a storefront all thanks to your support and appreciate your patience as we figure things out.”
