The Price is right.
Entrepreneur John Price has reopened the car wash on Storke Road, in another win for western Goleta.
“This is a state-of-the-art system,” Price said. “We have come such a long way in the car wash industry.”
The new car wash is the latest feature of a redeveloped square at 370 Storke Road, which includes a new Fuel Depot gas station that opened last year.
Price plans more changes for the area, including a Point Market at the front, facing the street, where people can shop inside or get drive-thru coffee. He said Starbucks made an offer for the site, but he declined.
The car wash includes four bays and eight vacuum cleaners. It’s $5 to wash for five minutes and $2 for eight minutes of vacuuming.
Car wash features include wheel and tire cleaner, bug remover, low-pressure pre-soak, high-pressure detergent, a foam brush, wax, ultra vehicle protectant, clear-coat protectant and spot-free rinse. The car wash takes cards and cash.
Price praised the City of Goleta for its “superb” permitting and inspection process to open the car wash quickly.
“The system is unbelievable,” Price said.

With the older car wash system, it would take several seconds before the nozzle would shift from high-pressure soap to rinse, but with the new system the shift is instantaneous.
“We spared absolutely no expense building this,” Price said.
Plus, there’s more to come. Price plans to add a fifth bay, but it will be automated.
He has hired a new manager, David Howden, for the gas station and the car wash, who will rove between the two services to assist customers with any issues.
Price said he will do only tenant improvements at the Point Market site. The Fuel Depot gas station, which opened last September, has experienced a steady flow of traffic. His other Fuel Depots have seen a drop in sales because the Storke Road site is so popular.
“It’s been a long time coming, and it has been very successful,” Price said.
Manifattura to Open on State Street
A new Italian restaurant, Manifattura, is set to open soon at 413 State St. in Santa Barbara.

Recent restaurants at that site have struggled. Most recently, Taza Mediterranean Street Kitchen occupied the site. Before that, it was JJs Diner, then Onus Donuts, and before that Urkeb, which sold German food.

The store opened in May and is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.
