Santa Barbara County apparently can’t get enough of Wingstop.

One of the fast-growing restaurant chains in the country has opened another store, this time on Santa Barbara’s Mesa.

Commercial real estate broker Rob Adams negotiated the deal, his sixth in Santa Barbara County.

“Wingstop is experiencing tremendous growth as a brand, along with their unique chicken wing menu offerings, which have both helped to fuel its local expansion,” Adams told Noozhawk. “Wingstop has also done a tremendous job with their digital and delivery channels, which originate over 70% of their sales, catering to the younger demographic.”

The new store, at 1964 Cliff Drive, is near Santa Barbara City College. The company also has UC Santa Barbara covered with a store in Isla Vista. Wingstop has stores in La Cumbre Plaza in Santa Barbara, in Goleta, Lompoc and Santa Maria.

Wingstop is known for its wings, bone-in and boneless, with several sauces to heat up the experience. It also sells fries and sodas, with the machine that allows people to create their own special mix and concoction.

It recently opened its 3,000th store. It has opened 800 restaurants in the past two years, according to Nation’s Restaurant News. The company also has stores in Saudi Arabia, The Netherlands and Australia.

For Adams, the restaurant is about more than just real estate. He also eats there.

“With a choice of 12 sauces, I’m a big fan myself, and my sides tip is the cajun fried corn,” he said.

Zoe Bikini Moving

You have seen the hats. They have gone viral. They are trucker hats with a bikini scrap in a heart shape sewed on to them.

They are the vision and creation of Zoe Magee, a Santa Barbara-born entrepreneur. She has created and specialized in women’s swimwear and other clothing materials for decades.

Her Zoe Bikini store, at 429 State St. in Santa Barbara, recently received some bad news, however. The building was sold, and she has to be out by Dec. 31.

Magee, however, is close to landing a new spot, and hopes to find out in the days ahead.

“My shop is unique and people love it,” Magee said.

The building was never meant to be her long-term home, she said.

She wants people to know: “Zoe Bikini is not going out of business.”

Magee began her career making custom-made bikinis before she moved to San Francisco and began a career in designing and manufacturing. She did that successfully for 30 years.

She came back to Santa Barbara right before the COVID-19 pandemic. She created the heart heads and creates heart hoodies with scrap from T-shirts.

She plans an announcement about her next move soon and encourages people to check out the shop.

“I have a nice, curated collection of clothing,” Magee said.
