The Black is Beautiful Gala and Fundraiser, which stands as a testament to Healing Justice Santa Barbara’s commitment to empowering and uplifting the Black and African-American community in Santa Barbara County, will take place 6-11 p.m. Feb. 23 at the Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort.

Community members are invited to attend the event that seeks to shine a spotlight on the rich cultural contributions of Black people, while raising awareness and financial support for initiatives aimed at fostering equity and justice.

The gala will offer a lineup of performances, art exhibits, and displays that spotlight the talents within the local Black and African American community, from P Money Experience’s dance performances to the soulful sounds of Talitha Gabrielle’s acoustic guitar and singing.

Hosted by Vivian Storm, he evening will also feature performances by members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

The gala is designed to raise crucial funds through donations and sponsorships, supporting local Black organizations and leaders dedicated to the empowerment, education, and advancement of Black individuals in Santa Barbara County.

With sponsorships from supporters like Carrie Towbes & John Lewis Foundation, Santa Barbara Foundation, and Hutton Parker Foundation, the event aims to amplify its impact.

Attendees will have a chance to engage with local organizations, leaders, and advocates dedicated to promoting healing, justice, and empowerment within the Black community. The event will foster connections and dialogue, amplifying the voices and initiatives striving for positive change.

“We are thrilled to continue the legacy of our Black ancestors that came before us,” said Krystle Sieghart, executive director of programs and operations at Healing Justice SB. “For years, Black civic organizations have been working hard to preserve Black history in the Santa Barbara community, and through our historic preservation work with the city of Santa Barbara we learned that events like the gala have been happening.

“We are honored to continue these traditions and look forward to sharing our love for Black people with the community.”
