Santa Barbara Zoo’s Boo at the Zoo will be more than a night-time event this year, as it expands to include daytime Halloween activities, alongside three nights of family-friendly after-dark fun, and a new 21+ Adult Night.

Daytime events, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 16-31, include a Halloween-themed scavenger hunt with a prize; daily costume contests and parades; Halloween story time with the zoo’s performance team; a candy station; and hay maze. Face painting will be available for an additional charge.

Daytime Boo at the Zoo activities are included with regular zoo admission or membership.

The zoo’s traditional after-dark Boo at the Zoo will be 5-8 p.m. Oct. 23-25 with safe, traffic-free trick-or-treating, a costume contest, DJ and dance floor, animal encounters, bounce houses and inflatable slides, train rides, photo booth, rock wall, kids’ hay maze, spooky stories, and s’mores by the campfire.

Night-time Boo at the Zoo is a separate event with ticket required, it is not included with regular daytime zoo admission. Santa Barbara Zoo members receive $5 off general admission ticket prices for the special event.

Also new this year, the zoo will host its first Adult Night, 6-10 p.m. Oct. 22, a Halloween celebration for guests ages 21 and older. On tap for the evening are a DJ and dance floor, animal encounters, cocktails, train rides, photo booth, complimentary beer and wine tastings, and a costume contest.

Adult Night requires a separate event ticket; it is not included with regular daytime zoo admission. Santa Barbara Zoo members receive $5 off general admission ticket prices for the special event. Limited tickets available.

The zoo will close at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 22-25 and reopen for the evening events. Separate admission required for daytime and nighttime entry.
