Chaucer’s Bookstore will host author and podcaster Delanie Fisher for a book talk and signing of “MockTales: 50+ Literary Cocktails Inspired by Classic Works, Banned Books, and More,” 4 p.m. Saturday, March 8 at 3321 State St. Santa Barbara.

For readers who have wondered what Elinor and Marianne from Jane Austen’s novel “Sense & Sensibility” would sip on chilly evenings in Barton Cottage, they are likely none of the drinks in Fisher’s book.

“We’ve become a lot more fun since the 1700s,” Chaucer’s said, adding, “But, try a refreshing Soda & Sensibility anyway.”

Each recipe in “MockTales” is inspired by the literary characters, authors, and settings of classic books, banned books, and beloved book-to-film adaptations.

Check out recipes like The Blizzard of Oz, Huckleberry Fizz, Oliver Lemon Twist, and Rubyfruit Jungle Juice.

“MockTales” features some 50 alcohol-free, plant-based recipes made to pair with a quiet reading or movie night at home, or to share at your next book club.

There are also fun literary facts, and non-drinking games.

Fischer, who lives in Los Angeles, is host of the podcast “Self- Helpless,” a comedy writer, and creative activist whose work has been featured on NBC, FOX, Lifetime, Netflix, Hulu, Vh1, Conan, and “The Tonight Show.”
