Community members are invited to attend the inaugural Library Night Live on the Michael Towbes Library Plaza, an event in support of the Santa Barbara Public Library’s free literacy programs, 6:30-9 p.m. Thursday May 14, at the Central Library, 40 E. Anapamu St.

The event, which is part of the National Library Week (April 19-26) will feature guest author and actor Max Greenfield, book-themed experiences, wine and culinary bites, and a celebration of reading and community.

Proceeds support free tutoring, early literacy programs, English conversation groups, GED and citizenship prep, and job-readiness services that impact hundreds of local learners each year.

“This year’s national theme Find Your Library Joy! reflects what we see every day: the joy of discovering an unexpected book, connecting with other caregivers at early literacy events, meeting new friends at library programs, finding a quiet place to study, or chatting with friendly staff at a Library on the Go stop,” organizers said.
