Join us for the 67th annual Breakfast with the Authors, 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 in the Santa Barbara County Education Office (SBCEO) auditorium, 4400 Cathedral Oaks Road. Community members age 12 and older are invited to attend.

“Breakfast With the Authors is an amazing event that connects authors and illustrators of children’s literature with members of our community for brunch and conversation,” said County Superintendent of Schools Susan Salcido. “We are honored to host this unique event as part of Santa Barbara County’s commitment to the art of story-telling and reading.”

This year’s featured authors and illustrators include Julie Dillemuth, Mel Gilden, Joan Bransfield Graham, Carol Heyer, Bonnie Lady Lee, Alexis O’Neill, Karen Lee Stevens, Greg Trine, Henry Turner, Frans Vischer and Robin Yardi.

Event timeline: 10 a.m. book signing and mingling; 10:30 a.m. brunch; 11:15 a.m. author/illustrator discussion; 12:30-1 p.m. questions and book-signing.

Although costumes are optional, attendees are encouraged to dress up as literary characters and authors. Favorite costumes from previous years included Pippi Longstocking and Clive Cussler.

Raffle prizes for books will occur throughout the day. A quiche brunch will be provided.

Registration deadline is Oct. 18. Tickets are $20 for general public, $15 for students, and $15 for authors’ guests.
