The 9th annual Buellton Brew Fest will feature some 50 breweries, wineries, spirits, and live entertainment, 12:30-4:30 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at River View Park in the heart of Santa Barbara Wine Country. There will be an assortment of food trucks and lawn games, as well as performances from The Voice Finalist Will Breman, DJ Hectik and Richie Rey.

The brew fest will feature breweries including local favorites Firestone Walker Brewing Company and Figueroa Mountain Brewing Company; both have made their home in Buellton.

Firestone’s 805 beer, named for the local area code, is a familiar brand in Santa Barbara County. Named after the mountain seen from their family home in nearby Los Olivos, Fig Mountain opened in Buellton, and set out to pay homage to the Santa Ynez Valley with handcrafted beer and hand-drawn artwork depicting the local landscape on their labels.

Other craft breweries from Santa Barbara County and beyond that will be at Brew Fest include Sierra Nevada, Solvang Brewing Company, Three Weavers, Topa Topa Brewing, Speakeasy, and Institution Ales.

Singer Breman, a finalist from the NBC show “The Voice,” learned to sing when he was just 3 years old. He was diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome, a high-functioning form of autism, and his parents believed music would be helpful in his development.

Breman went on to attend college in Santa Barbara and stayed in town after graduation to pursue music. He is currently a one-man-band soul musician and looper who creates various beats and loops them together to sound like multiple musicians.

General admission to the festival is $45 with entry at 12:30 p.m. and includes tastings from any of the 50-plus breweries, wineries and spirits on site. A VIP early entry session at $55 affords access to the event at 11:30 a.m. and allows ticket-holders to sample from specialized beers not available during the general admission session.

Ticket holders must be 21 and older; identification will be verified at the door.

For locals and visitors not staying in Buellton, the Brew Bus will make pickups in Santa Maria, Lompoc, Santa Barbara and Goleta. Bus transportation tickets must be purchased prior to the event, no shuttle tickets will be sold at pickup locations.
