FamiliesAct! invites the community to gather in solidarity for a Candlelight Vigil in honor of International Overdose Awareness Day, 7:30 p.m. today, Sunday, Aug. 31, at the Santa Barbara Courthouse Sunken Garden.

The event will honor the lives of those impacted by overdose, while also recognizing community members affected by harmful immigration policies and economic hardship, according to FamiliesAct!.

The vigil will include a community gathering, candlelight ceremony, and words of remembrance.

“At a time when so many are searching for connection, healing, and safety, this vigil reminds us that we are one family,” said organizers at FamiliesAct! “We come together to support one another, grieve together, and affirm that no one faces these challenges alone.”

International Overdose Awareness Day is a global event that seeks to raise awareness of overdose, reduce stigma, and acknowledge the grief felt by families and friends.
