CoastHills Credit Union is opening its newest branch on Saturdays, and remodeling another branch to meet members’ preferences for in-person banking, potential indicators that consumers feel safer as COVID-19 pandemic figures continue to improve.

Starting this week, CoastHills’s Betteravia branch — the site of its corporate headquarters at Enos Ranch in Santa Maria — will be open for full service, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturdays. It is the first time the branch will be staffed on a weekend since first opening in January 2020.

The change comes as Santa Barbara County has operated in the Red Tier of California’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy, which has coincided with the re-opening of schools, in-person dining, youth sports, and, soon, movie theaters.

CoastHills Credit Union also will begin work this week to remodel its Nipomo branch. The renovation choices in Nipomo were made to improve the in-person member experience and are based on feedback received by community members.

“We have tremendous online and mobile banking options that give our members the convenience of managing their finances with CoastHills from home or on the go,” said Paul Cook, Credit Union president/CEO.

“Even so, our members love visiting their favorite branches, and we are excited to provide them more opportunity and a comfortable experience to do just that,” he said.

While renovations are underway in Nipomo, the Credit Union will open a temporary branch next door in the same shopping center as the current branch at 542 W Tefft St. CoastHills locations in Paso Robles, Arroyo Grande, Lompoc and at Broadway and Stowell in Santa Maria also are open 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturdays.
